“She would not give up, not this close to rescuing a world class art thief. He was the only one who could help her solve the mystery. As he attempted to swing himself up to reach her other hand, the strain became too great and they both plummeted down the Louvre pyramid, landing in a heap of tangled limbs. Hans and Camille had no other choice but to try again tomorrow night. After overhearing a hushed conversation, while on duty at the museum, she had become convinced that the painting was hidden somewhere inside. With his help she might be able to find it. The question was, why did the museum announce that the painting had been stolen, the night before they had planned on stealing it? And why was Hans being blamed for its disappearance? Had someone discovered their plan? Did they know that Hans was her lover? Would they stop at nothing to ensure the end of meaningful human connection by sending Hans away for good? Camille shook her head. She didn’t want these thoughts to consume her and keep her awake.
